High winds caused newer electrical lines to touch near the Cedar Street canal crossing east of Illinois 47 and north of Illinois Ave. A Commonwealth Edison spokesman said the service interruption began shortly after 11 a.m. and lasted less than an hour.

Morris man dead in Minooka crash on railroad overpass
Perry A. Halterman, 30, of 221 Pleasant St, died at the scene when his car left the Minooka blacktop and struck a stone pier of the E J and E railroad overpass three miles north of U S 6. Grundy County Sheriff’s team, coroner W Clark Davis and local firefighters found him dead at about 7 a m. He had recently moved from Plano to Morris and worked for Bryant Aluminum Builders in Plainfield. This is the 12th Grundy County fatality this year. the cause remains unknown. Continued on page 2.
