Condemnation trial opens over 9.95 acres for I 55 in Grundy County

Atty. Judd for the State and Atty. Black for the Blitzes opened a Grundy County condemnation suit seeking 9.95 acres of the Blitzes Aurora farm for Interstate 55. The landowner seeks 20 000 dollars for the taken portion and 16 500 dollars for damages to the remainder plus post‑take access issues and landlocking concerns.

25th Grundy County Corn Festival Schedules for Kids

On Saturday Sept 29 the 25th Grundy County Corn Festival offers a Crackerbox Derby at 10 a.m. in Gould Park, a pie eating contest at 2:30 p.m. in Chapin Park, greased pig contest, kiddie rides, a 1:30 p.m. Kiddie Parade and a teen dance at 7 p.m. at Morris fire hall. Entries are limited by age groups with advance registration via Morris Daily Herald or Chamber of Commerce.

Public hearing on Early Realty variance postponed to next Thursday

The Morris Zoning Board of Appeals postponed the variance hearing for Early Realty of Joliet to next Thursday. The 56 by 120 foot lot at Jackson and Division was recommended for rezoning from R II to B I and a 24 by 30 foot building is planned. Chairman Sereno noted the attorney could not attend and arranged for further discussion at 7:30 p.m. next week.

Warrant Issued for Miss Josephine Reagan in Missing Person Case

A warrant for the arrest of Josephine Reagan also known as Josephine Holt was issued after she was reported missing from a drug abuse center without permission. Reagan and Dwaine Holt were involved in the case and believed to be traveling together.

Grundy County lowers assessments on 33 tracts in 1973

The Grundy County Board of Review reduced assessments on 33 tracts of land after 65 complaints from 40 owners. The three member board finished September 7 with no total reductions computed and plans to seek a 90 day extension from the Illinois Department of Revenue for commercial-property filings.
