Minooka Centennial Parade Draws 40 Units Sunday
More than 40 units will participate in Minooka's Centennial Celebration Parade starting at 2 p.m. Sunday led by Joliet Marine Color Guard and Minooka High School Band. Participating bands include Coal City High, Wilmington High, Rockdale Junior High, Taft Junior High Lockport, Troy Grade School, and a Joliet Federation of Musicians 36 piece band. The parade features 18 floats seven or eight antique cars horse drawn conveyances and Joliet Shrine Motorcycle Squad. Special guest Denise Burgess Centennial Queen from Gardner and local dignitaries will ride. The parade runs along Wabena Mondamon and West Streets to the high school. The three day celebration is organized by the eight member Citizens Advisory Committee. Proceeds go to a recreational area fund for a park. Fire at AMAX Plant Controlled Without Injuries
Morris firefighters were called about 8 30 p m Wednesday when an oil line at AMAX Aluminum in Aux Sable Township ruptured and ignited. Plant crew quickly extinguished flames from an ingot that broke loose valves and tubes. Company spokesman said operations may resume within 48 hours. Firemen stayed about 20 minutes. no injuries.

A Morris man, James Baggett, 36, was in fair condition at St. Joseph Hospital Joliet after a 22 caliber pistol incident at his home on Division Street. His brother Bill Baggett, 30, accidentally discharged the weapon while handling it, injuring James in the left side. Bill claimed he did not know the gun was loaded. James was first treated at Morris Hospital before transfer.
