Student designs a three tier pool at Illinois home
Rich Taylor a University of Illinois student built a three level stone pool system at his Morris rural residence along U S 6 near Illinois 47. The project used about 10 000 stones and features four jet sprays in a 20 foot main pool with waterfalls feeding two lower pools. Plans include timed colored lighting and more glass art projects as he studies glass blowing.

Five Streator Residents Die In Crash With Truck
Five Streator residents died when their auto collided with a Kroger semi truck 1.5 miles south of Grand Ridge on Illinois 23. Roberto Covarrubias was identified among the victims. Joliet YMCA Expands Seneca Campground With 10 More Acres
Joliet YMCA president Jack Carlson announced the purchase of an additional 10 acres at the Seneca Marseilles campsite. The land joins the first 60 acres bought in May 1971 with aid from the City Club via Christmas tree sales. The site, five miles west of the Seneca turnoff on U.S. 6, includes woods, a pond, and a southwest creek, near Interstate 80. A master plan is to be drawn as funds allow, with development by a special board committee. The program highlights Camp Joydaka and the day camp’s 20th anniversary, serving about 120 youths in eight weeks last summer.
