A 73 year old Mazon man, John L. Donahue, was treated at Morris Hospital after a Friday 4 41 p m collision on Illinois 47 two miles south of Mazon. He was turning left into his driveway when James D. Vestal 44 of Petersburg attempted to pass and struck Donahue. Vestal received a ticket for failure to yield. A Joliet man struck and killed a deer on Dresden Road Sunday night.

Bremer pleads innocent in Wallace shooting case
Arthur H. Bremer pleaded innocent to state charges in the May 15 Laurel rally shooting that wounded Gov. George C. Wallace and three others. The Milwaukee man faces six counts for each injured person, including attempted murder and gun law violations, after earlier pleading not guilty to federal charges. Vandalism Hits Santa Fe Crossing in Eileen
Grundy County deputies received a report of vandalism at the Santa Fe Railroad crossing in Eileen on Friday at 2 25 p m. Signal maintenance man Jerry Brewer said both flasher and reflection lenses were broken by a beer bottle and rocks.

Three Injured In City Accidents Over Holiday Weekend
Three people were hurt in city accidents over the holiday weekend. Ralph Wiltermood 45 and Sherry Graves 22 were treated and released after their cars collided at Main and Spruce at 1 05 p m Saturday. Gary Rose 19 was held overnight for head injuries after his motorcycle struck a parking meter at 1 50 a m Sunday. Rose was cited for speeding, and James Chronister 26 was fined for improper lane usage after a separate incident on West Main Street.

Fire destroys rural Mazon home
A two story rural Mazon house occupied by Mr and Mrs Daniel Zilm burned to the ground early Saturday. Mrs Zilm found the blaze at 1 10 am after returning from work. Four children aged 14 11 9 and 4 escaped unharmed. The property is owned by Leo Turner of Tinley Park. Zilm was away on a trip. Firemen from Mazon could not save the home and contents, except for some clothes on a line. The family stays with nephew Gene Hanson next door.
