Hijacked Northeastern jet diverted to Havana
A Northeast Airlines flight with 20 aboard was hijacked today by three Sky pirates two armed with guns and one with a knife. The Boeing 727 was en route from Miami to New York when the pilot reported the hijack and turned toward Cuba landing at Jose Marti Airport near Havana around 12:20 p.m. local time.

Car crashes into park pond in Gebhard State Park
Paul A. Rockert, 15, of Bourbonnais, was ticketed for operating a vehicle without a valid license after the car stalled in Gebhard State Park. Two Killed in Livingston County Traffic Accidents
Two Odell residents died in separate weekend crashes. Chloe Winn, 82, pulled from a stop sign into a semi on Odell Road at U.S. 66, and driver Robert Walters of Ferdiana, Penn, was involved. Michael Donovan, 21, died when his 1963 Chevrolet hit a bridge embankment on Illinois 17 four miles west of Dwight after falling asleep at the wheel.

Braceville Homecoming Parade Closes Week of Festivities
Braceville held a Sunday parade marking the end of its homecoming activities. The Braceville Volunteer Fire Department sponsored the event with help from the Braceville Methodist Church and Braceville Community Club.
