Diamond Mayor Donald Marsaglia acting as liquor commissioner and the village board will hold a hearing next week on closing the Styx Tavern after a shooting early Friday. Bartender John Anderson remains in fair condition at St. Joseph Hospital Joliet and faces a required hearing within seven days after closure.

A fire in downtown Springfield spread from a paint store, destroying two buildings and injuring four people. An explosion sent two firefighters and a store employee to Memorial Hospital for treatment. The Horsley law office, housed in one of the buildings, burned out.

Morris boy to be released after bicycle crash
