Students End Sit-In Protest In Chicago

About 500 students voted to end a six day sit-in protesting University of Chicago cooperation with the Selective Service. A 25 member token group remained to avoid pressuring the administration. The university declined to resume operations under the protesters conditions and workers were largely sent home.

FBI agent killed during manhunt in Shade Gap

In Shade Gap Pennsylvania an FBI agent hunting kidnapped Peggy Ann Brodnick was shot and killed while searching a wooded area. The agent Terry Ray Anderson age 42 from Hemphill was the Har Risburg office chief for 10 years and died within minutes. A dog was also killed by a sniper during the six day abduction manhunt.

Thunderstorms and Winds Hit Wide swath of states

Severe weather swept a six state region from Arkansas to Iowa with tornado and severe thunderstorm watches. Tornadoes touched down in Oklahoma and Kansas with funnel clouds across eastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma. A separate storm caused injuries and property damage in Columbus Georgia and near Milton Florida.

SBA approves disaster aid for Grundy County flood victims

The Small Business Administration grants disaster assistance for Grundy County after flooding. A temporary Morris office will open at City Hall to accept loan applications and assess needs. Chicago widow Tina Lara lists Richard Lara as a deceased Army private in a $1 million damages suit against American Flyers Airline Corp. Meeting Thursday On County Home

The U S Weather Bureau predicts showers and thunderstorms tonight with a low in the 50s and locally heavy rain possible. Wednesday should be partly sunny with a high in the 60s and Thursday looks fair. Collins Weather Station logged 72 high and 51 low Monday, with 59 at 9 am today.
