Woman Injured in Three Car Interstate 55 Crash
A Gurney woman, Edith Scales aged 54, is in fair condition at St Joseph Hospital Joliet after a three car collision on Interstate 55 one mile south of Reed Road at 9 am Monday. Arthur A Bomke 27 Urbana and Roy C Gebney 23 Ottawa were northbound and passing when their cars collided. Gebney crossed the median and hit Scales southbound vehicle. Both men cited for improper lane usage. Damages quoted: Gebney 1500 front, Scales 1700 front, Bomke 25.

Northern seeks gas rate increase in Midwest service area
Northern Natural Gas Co told its utility customers it will ask the Federal Power Commission for a about 36 million dollar annual rate rise, roughly 12 percent, to fund new gas supplies in Montana, Canada, Alaska and the Arctic and to cover higher operating costs. The company serves 76 utility customers across 1,093 communities in eight states. Gordon Severn, Northern Group VP, notes most of the increase funds securing and attaching new reserves and maintaining adequate gas supply. Last week the FPC approved pipeline facilities to move new Montana reserves.
