Dune buggy accident claims Morris man life
A 42-year-old Morris resident, Leon Beavers, died Sunday afternoon when his Volkswagen dune buggy overturned during ascent near Railroad Road. Beavers was pronounced dead at 2:20 p.m. after being taken to Morris Hospital. The coroner ordered an autopsy. the sheriff's department investigated. He is survived by his wife Betty Lou Odell and two daughters. Funeral services are set for Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home.

Police report an armed robbery at the Braidwood Inn on the I-55 frontage road in Braidwood occurred at 12:35 a.m. A single masked male, armed with a blue steel revolver, stole about $1,000 in cash and checks from the night attendant.
