U S war planes bombed storage depots barracks and training facilities west of Hanoi, with carrier based jets returning safely. Reports said several enemy MIGs were sighted or shot down, while B52s were not used.
President Nixon and his top advisers met in the Cabinet Room to map a new Vietnam strategy as air strikes renewed on Hanoi outskirts. The session followed Nixon’s Moscow summit and included NSC members, with attendance kept secret. Earlier, U S warplanes hit fuel depots near Hanoi. Rogers cut European trip to return home.
Morris City police Grundy County sheriff officials and the county coroner investigated after William Steele reported finding part of a skull at Evergreen Cemetery at 6 15 p m Sunday. Investigators noted prior vandalism where skeleton parts were removed from the receiving vault two years ago. The skull’s identity remains unknown and it will be returned to the vault.
The report notes cool, showery weather with possible thunderstorms and highs in the mid 40s to mid 50s. Weekend readings at Dresden Island Locks reached 78 with a 48 low. Sunday 50/46. Morris downtown reported 47 at 10:45 am, 48 at 7 am. Precipitation over the weekend totaled 1.09 inches.

Divers searched the Fox River for Leslie Gladkowski twenty of Chicago after her rubber lifeboat capsized and was swept over the dam at Geneva Saturday. Police and rescue crews worked through the day seeking the missing person.
A Grundy County jury awarded William Blitzstein 43500 for 29 acres and 5000 damages in an Interstate 55 condemnation case. The land near Goodfarm Township lies in Section 33, along Illinois 47 and U S 66, to build a new I 55 interchange between Gardner and Bloomington.
The United Methodist Church of Minooka bought the former agricultural building on Massasoit Street from the Minooka High School district for 21 875 dollars. The church plans interior remodeling for educational space a youth recreation area and a social hall. School materials will be moved out soon.

Public support citing public interest and assistance in two criminal arrests last week, announced that his department will check out all tips and inquiries from identified or anonymous callers. The 25 year old man charged with burglary of the Glad Gift Shoppe Wednesday was apprehended after police received a call from an unidentified person. An anonymous phone call was credited with the confiscation in Gould Park of a bag of marijuana and related charges on a 21 year old man. Chief Lynes said police prefer identification on calls but they will accept and check those unidentified ones. The police chief urged residents to call the station with tips information or questions.
