Surplus furnishings linked to Morris City Hall after ceiling collapse
The Morris City Council stored 14 steel and wooden desks 22 chairs and 125 desk trays on the second floor of City Hall after a ceiling collapse. Items were bought from an Army Surplus store in McHenry County with a $210.50 Grundy County Civil Defense bill and a $140 Waters Transfer transport fee totaling $350.50. Council chair Del Linn says the desks may not be used until new chambers are built.

Hijacker Demands 300000 After Eastern Air Lines Jet
An Eastern Air Lines jet carrying 56 aboard was hijacked shortly after takeoff from Allentown PA and flown to Dulles International Airport. The hijacker, alone, demanded 300000 in ransom. The plane, a three-jet aircraft en route to Washington National, carried 49 passengers 4 flight attendants and a 3-person crew. FAA said the hijacker carried a gun and claimed explosives in a briefcase.
