Cloudy skies with showers and cool weekend outlook

The U S Weather Bureau forecasts cloudy periods with a chance of showers tonight and temperatures in the mid 30s. Spilled Diesel Oil Traced From Road Ditch to River

About 2,500 gallons of No 5 diesel spilled from a Murphy Miles Corp truck into a ditch north of Aux Sable Lock then into Aux Sable Creek and the Illinois River. The oil coated surfaces but no fish deaths were detected as the creek runs high. No injuries or vehicle damage were reported.

Lenten Service to Feature Singing at Morris Church

U S Navy divers use the Alvin sub to attach cables to the missing H bomb located about five miles off Palomares Beach Spain two thousand five hundred feet down. Recovery could take up to three days as crews work from Fort Snelling and face strong currents and secrecy rules.

Boy 7 Found Hiding Today In Hayloft Near School

Steve Montanus a first grader at Stine School was found hiding in a barn hayloft near the Ed Glenny residence after being missing about three hours. Lyle Claypool spotted him on a hunch. Sheriff Olson and Deputy Coleman assisted as a search was organized. school evacuations occurred due to an electrical short circuit with no fire reported.
