Thieves Steal 2 Diamond Rings From Home

Henry Johnston reports a burglary at 937 E North St Wednesday night. Two diamond rings valued about 600 dollars and 22 dollars in cash were taken after intruders used a skeleton key to enter a back door while the family was away between 6 40 and 8 10 p m. One ring held sentimental family value.

Four Grundy Men Lose Driving Privileges

Four Grundy County men Morris and Mazon residents had driving privileges revoked after DUI convictions. The group includes DuWayne H. Hanson Robert A. Kernes and Richard A. Kenny of Morris and Kenneth C. McCoy of Mazon. Probationary permits to drive were issued to Willis C. Lightsey Braceville and Richard W. McArdle Morris.

Couple Adopts Two Korean Girls in Grundy County

Kyong Sim aged 13 and In Sim aged 6 were adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Morris of Wilmington after arriving last May aboard a plane from Korea. Steve Morris, their son in the U S Army, began the process in Seoul and the family, now farming 520 acres in Will and Grundy Counties, plans to integrate the girls at Custer Park School while adapting to English.

Morris MCHS Board approves land option and audits

Morris Community High School board met for the regular session and approved a land option at 2250 per acre for 18 acres north of the high school. They also named Stisser Kurz and Teehan of Ottawa as auditors and set dates for visits, dinners, and meetings with associations.

Defenders Hold Against Two Day Assault at Ashan Camp

North Vietnamese troops overran the Ashan Special Forces camp after a fierce two day fight by Montagnard defenders and U.S. advisers. Lt Col Kenneth B. Lacey reported closing the camp at 5 43 PM and Col William McKean said U.S. losses were heavy. The battle came amid high political tension in Saigon with Ky and Thi under scrutiny. Thick weather limited air support and one Skyraider was shot down but the pilot survived aided by Maj Bernard Fisher.
