Channahon pupils from kindergarten through third grade move into the new Norval B. Galloway Grade School on Thursday with two educational wings and 22 classrooms. The building includes resource centers and rooms for special education, music, art, and a gym cafeteria multipurpose area. Dedication is planned for July 4 with open house in late March.

Verona teen cyclist injured in rear-end crash
Douglas McCloskey, 14, Verona, was seriously hurt Saturday when his bicycle was struck from behind by a 63 year old pickup driver, Paul Cooper. McCloskey suffered compound leg fractures and a skull laceration and remained in fair condition at St. Joseph Hospital Joliet ICU. The crash occurred two miles west of Mazon on Grand Ridge Road as both vehicles moved east. McCloskey was treated at Morris Hospital before transfer. Lt. Evert Poyner investigated the incident.

Fiery crash leads to charge after driver flee incident

Judge Wren in Critical Condition at Clarksville Memorial Hospital
Judge Robert Wren of Grundy County Associate Circuit, 453 Vine Street, was admitted to Clarksville Memorial Hospital in critical condition after a Saturday illness while returning from Florida. He moved from intensive care to a regular room before noon.
