Illinois saves premature infants with statewide high risk program
A Springfield Illinois program expanded to 55 counties aids premature and high risk newborns. The system uses ambulance pickup with incubators and in transit nursing care. Admittance requires weight under four pounds eight ounces and age under eight days. Financial aid covers most remaining costs with families contributing as able.
