Illinois House Approves Move to March Primary Date
The Illinois House backed bills to shift the June primary to March and to redraw township county boards to meet one person one vote. The measures return to the Senate for acceptance. The plan aims to help farmers and curb campaign lengths and would create commissions if boards fail to remap by deadlines.

Mini train plan for crops begins in Illinois
Illinois Central Railroad and Swift & Co launch a mini train experiment to move soybeans and other crops. The program lets a company hire up to ten cars plus an engine for one month with full crew, renting five hopper cars at $400 daily and $3.50 per track mile to move crops to ChamPAIGN mill and elevators. Other firms may use mini trains to collect crops for distant ports, complementing the yearlong rent-a-train plan to export Illinois crops.
