Bus Driver Ticketed After Dwight Collision With Freight Train
James Oldham 45 of Chicago was ticketed by state police for failing to observe a railway signal after a bus collided with a freight train near Dwight. Oldham suffered forehead and elbow lacerations and was in good condition at St. James Hospital, Pontiac. Three of 12 hospitalized remain. eight released and one today. Jane Ivy 15 of Forest Park has a broken leg and was pinned in the bus for minutes. Bill Barber 20 of Chicago also hospitalized. The bus carried 39 passengers to Sunset Sibre Camp near Mitchell southwest of Edwardsville.

Police Catch Man Fleeing In Pickup
Police chased a stolen pickup and trailer 20 miles through southern Illinois before capturing 19 year old Larry D. Thrasher in Centralia. Harold Ancil, 44, was wounded in the thigh and arm during the gunfire as his wife watched. Thrasher said he fired into the air. Ancil and his wife were traveling from Anderson, Indiana with seat covers when Thrasher hitchhiked, then shot during unloading. Ancil is in fair condition at St. Mary's Hospital Centralia.
