Scott seeks to bar Illinois firm over furnace repair scam

Attorney General William J. Scott asked the Cook County Circuit Court to bar Community Conditioned Air Co. of Chicago Forest Park and Glen Ellyn from doing business in Illinois and to impose a 50000 civil penalty. Defendants include John Volk Downers Grove and Les Burk Chicago. He alleged the firm misled consumers that furnaces and chimneys were dangerous and required repairs when most issues were minor and that disconnecting furnaces and falsely claiming illegality to reconnect was common practice. He also said the company charged excessive prices and did not honor a one year guarantee. He seeks to block the firm from contracts for servicing purchasing sale or installation of heating and air conditioning equipment in Illinois.
