U S B52 bombers marked four years in Vietnam as North Vietnamese forces stepped up attacks on U S bases near Laos and Cambodia. Reports say 13 Americans killed and 28 wounded in two assaults while 72 North Vietnamese died and captured documents hint at ordered sapper raids.
Lt. j.g. Ronald C. Ramsey, deck officer aboard the destroyer Frank E. Evans, was permanently excused from testifying before a mixed American and Australian board investigating the Melbourne collision that killed 74 Evans crew. Ramsey cited constitutional rights and lack of cross examination rights. Lt. j.g. Roland Bowler III testified Ramsey ordered a maneuver that preceded the collision.
A special Sara toga School Board meeting is scheduled for Thursday at p.m. The notice indicates a formal session to discuss district matters.

He claimed to be a desperate man seeking Havana, showed a six inch blade, and diverted the plane to Cuba, with reports tying him to the Black Panthers and Eldridge Cleaver. The incident marked the 27th hijacking of the year.
Israeli jets attacked two sites along the Jordan cease-fire line in the biggest air action in weeks. Reports place strikes north of Kalia and near the Sea of Galilee with no casualties declared. An American tourist, Shirley Anderson, 26, of Rochester, N.Y., was killed days earlier in Kalia.
Draftee Kenneth E Jensen of Reddick reported for induction into the Armed Forces this morning. Twenty four men departed from the Post Office building to receive their physicals as part of July Grundy County selective service calls, with 20 men slated for induction and 23 for physical examinations.

A prison riot at the Kansas State Penitentiary in Lansing erupted after a general shakedown and a disturbed night. Tear gas was used to restore order as inmates set fires and windows were broken. one inmate was wounded, no staff harmed, and 100 patrolmen and local officers surrounded the facility.
Bids for the Morris Public Library will be opened at 8 p.m. July 14 in the current building at 604 Liberty St. General contract plans are available Friday at Freund and Arthur Architects, 95 Grant St., Crystal Lake 60014. Mechanical and electrical work will be bid separately. Trustees approved a one story plus basement on the same site.
