Australians to visit Morris Sister City July 2 arrival
Six Australians from Tumut will arrive in Morris on July 2 as part of a Sister City exchange. Four visitors plan to stay until July 8, with Brian Brennan and his wife Brenda staying a few extra days. Other guests include Mrs. Enid Pendegast and Mrs. Isabelle Macadam, Eva Manning, and Hilda Nash, mother of Tumut’s Mrs. Alison Elliott who visited Morris in February.

Trucker Dies In I-55 N Ramp Crash In Will County
A 23 year old Benjamin Wrench of Jerseyville died after his semi overturned on the I 55 ramp to Illinois 59 in Will County at about 5 AM. Passenger Ricky Ballard 20 of East Alton was hospitalized in fair condition. The truck owned by Melvin Dixon Trucking Co carried meat destined for Swift Co Chicago. An inquest will be held later.

Chicago man charged with murder after storm attack
A 30 year old Chicago man, Marion Logan, was charged with murder, attempted murder and aggravated battery after he fired on Phyllis Anderson and injured her husband Leo Anderson during a flooded viaduct standstill. Witnesses identified Logan as the shooter amid a violent crowd assaulting motorists.

High winds in Grundy County Tuesday downed two power lines on N Verona Rd starting a small grass fire. Commonwealth Edison crews extinguished the fire and repaired the lines.
