Flood waters recede at Dresden Island Lock and Dam
The Illinois River crest reached 8 a.m. Thursday and began to fall. Dresden Island tests show the lower pool at 494.4 feet for four hours before easing, about 10 feet above normal for the season. By 8:15 a.m. the lower pool fell .8 feet and the dam by four feet as the downward trend continued. The Kankakee River level also dropped three feet. Dresden records 4.58 inches of rain this month, 3.92 inches in the past week.
