Paratroopers Dead After Truck Plunges From Bridge
At Fort Campbell Kentucky a canvas covered Army truck overturned into a rocky creek killing 14 paratroopers and wounding nine. The 327th Airborne Infantry members were returning from field training when the truck hit the bridge rail and plunged 20 feet. Two helicopters evacuated victims and a board of inquiry opened into the crash as survivors say the truck was traveling 40 to 45 mph on a 25 mph gravel road.
