Weather outlook cools with showers possible this evening
The U S Weather Bureau forecasts a chance of showers this evening giving way to partly cloudy cooler conditions with a upper 50s low. Tuesday sees sunny cooler weather with a lower 70s high and Wednesday looks fair and cool. The Collins Weather Station records a Saturday high of 83 and low of 61 with 1.45 inches of rain Sunday night into Monday. At 9 am the Moris station clocked 67 degrees while 11:30 am showed 73 with drizzle downtown.

Heavy Rain Deluges Area with Widespread Storms
A weekend thunderstorm drenched the area near Morris with 1.45 inches of rain while nearby stations logged 1.05 inches in St. Louis. Illinois saw showers with Quincy at 1.71 inches and Peoria 0.85 inches. A cold front will clear skies Tuesday with lingering risk of heavy rain and strong winds.

Three Treated After Accident Near Morris
Three people, including two children and their mother, were injured in a two car crash on Illinois 47 near Sis's Drive-In Restaurant at 12 15 p m. Michael R Walters turning left caused the collision with Roman Junger driving a pickup truck followed by Eugene E Robinson in a 1963 Oldsmobile wagon with a homemade trailer. Douglas E and Michael 22 were treated and released. Robinson and two other children were uninjured. Junger’s truck rear was damaged and Robinsons car and trailer suffered extensive damage.

County Clerk Nels P. Nelson staff preps for the primary with polls open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and voters receiving three ballots three for party ticket school trustees and a $750 000 county home proposition. Results posted Tuesday night in the courthouse lobby. Absentee ballots for the June 14 primary closed Saturday with 196 returned, near the average of previous years.
