Local girl heads to Illini Girls State
Robin Cohenour daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Cohenour of Heatherfield Subdivision left by bus with other Morris Community High School juniors to attend the 33 annual Illini Girls State at MacMurray College Jacksonville. The trip sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Department of Illinois aims to train citizens in self government and civic duties. Cohenour was selected for honesty leadership and scholastic standing and will report to the auxiliary meeting on her return.

Fly-Up Day marks Girl Scout ceremony in Legion Hall
Girl Scouts held their annual Fly-Up Day in the Legion Hall with mothers present. Cadettes led by Mrs Karen Perkins opened the event while Brownies received handbooks pins and sang. Mary Lee Howard welcomed fifth graders into the Juniors and Dawn Blecha won a poncho for effort alongside Cindy Humbert for most badges. Refreshments served.

Kathy McMillan is new village clerk informing office hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Village Hall. No business will be conducted from her home.

Burglary at Ellsworth Olmstead Residence Channahon
Police investigated a burglary at the Ellsworth Olmstead home 707 Bridge St in Channahon. Items stolen valued around 1000 dollars included five shotguns a rifle car tape player barber bottles portable TV stereo and radio a large collection of stereo tapes cash firearms shells jewelry prisms and a western belt. Capt. Lloyd Unland led the investigation.
