Raccoons Nest In Oak Bin Near Goose Lake Prairie Farm
Park Ranger Joe Nyhoff found a mother raccoon and five cubs using an oak bin between two corn cribs on the Alma Miller farm in Goose Lake Prairie. The family, photographed calmly, has lingered three weeks and may stay about a month longer. The bin remains their quiet sanctuary as Nyhoff feeds them occasionally.

Bollen Elected Planning Commission Chairman
Austin Bollen was chosen as chairman by a 7-1 vote at the regular City Hall meeting. He was nominated by Mrs. Angie Patti with a second by Mrs. Ange Hansen, and cast the lone dissenting ballot. Bollen, maintenance manager for Northern Petrochemical Co., joined the commission in 1969 to fill a late member’s term and was reappointed in 1969. Clyde Baker and Mrs. Patti were unanimously re elected vice chairman and secretary respectively.
