Morris Public Library Board reelected officers for year

The Morris Public Library Board reelected Carson Robinson as president Mrs Jack Allen as vice president and Fred Schaefer as secretary treasurer. They reported a 1977 78 tax allotment of 74994 dollars and outlined summer programs for children and adults plus a CETA position proposal and memorial purchases.

Grundy County Housing Authority to add Saratoga Tower picnic facilities

The Grundy County Housing Authority discussed installing outdoor picnic areas at Saratoga Tower after tenants requested more amenities. Four redwood benches and three picnic tables with attached benches will be placed around the garden, with concrete-set grills on three sides. Costs run about 1100 dollars. work to be finished in 30 days.

Guns Stolen in Matteson Hardware Burglary

Nine firearms including shotguns rifles and a pistol were taken from Matteson Hardware 221 Bedford Rd in a overnight burglary. Entry was gained by a roof hole and a filing cabinet was disrupted with money missing from a cash box. Joliet Crime Lab assisted and the case was assigned to investigator Robert Lynes. Yorkville Kendall County Board meet June 14 at 9 a.m.

Joliet appoints Benedictine priest as auxiliary bishop

Pope Paul VI named Daniel W. Kucera of the Abbey of St. Procopius Lisle Illinois as auxiliary bishop to Joliet's bishop Monsignor Romeo Blanchette. A 54 year old priest, Kucera will also be the titular bishop of Natchez and has served since 1971 as president of the Illinois Benedictine College.

Stipulations Read In Bromine Waste Case at Morris Hearing

The PCB heard stipulations by Morris and Pfaff Construction with EPA on bromine waste dumped in Morris Landfill after an April 12 1976 I 55 spill. Pfaff fined 750 for dumping hazardous material. Morris fined 750 for landfill without a permit. Consolidated Freightways Michigan Chemical Con solidated Red Ball and Hatcher Emergency faced related charges. some counts dismissed. Attorneys for Morris Pfaff and the EPA spoke as the hearing noted possible further action if stipulations are rejected.

Arambasich Brothers May Face Trial Delay In Chicago

U S District Court in Chicago has not set a definite date for the Arambasich brothers Edward 54 and John 56 of Wilmington to stand trial on conspiracy and extortion indictments. Assistant U S Attorney James Walsh says 22 trials await before Judge John Grady in chronological order and the brothers’ trial may come in late June or July. Edward remains free on a 5000 bond while appealing March 22 convictions for extortion and tax-fraud counts. Judge Thomas McMillen had sentenced him to 10 years on May 16.
