Channahon Woman Killed in Hit and Run Crash
A 36 year old Channahon woman Mrs George Jean Mank was struck and killed at Smith Road and a frontage road by a light green pickup truck that left the scene. She was pronounced dead at St Joseph Hospital Joliet and the driver fled north on the frontage road. The sheriff and coroner cited multiple injuries and a 27 foot throw distance before the vehicle, which left the roadway 117 feet before impact. Funeral services are set for Tuesday at O Neil Funeral Home Chapel Lockport with burial in Resurrection Cemetery Romeoville.

Two-vehicle collision in Kendall County kills woman
A head on crash on Illinois 71 at Budd Road left Susan L. Hilliard aged 53 of Marion dead at the scene. Betty Smoot, also of Marion, was treated and released at Copley Hospital. Dan F. Lindner of Sandwich is in good condition after crossing the centerline in the second vehicle. The state police report cites Lindner as crossing the centerline before the collision. Morris Public Library Board meets at 7 30 p m tonight in the library multipurpose room for regular monthly reports.

Elvis Scoles of Seventh St Maron reported cash and checks totaling 400 stolen from his home at 12 20 p m Friday. Only a small amount of cash missing most of the loss consisting of checks to Southern Baptist Mission. An aluminum 12 foot boat chained to a tree at Rod and Gun Club area north of Bungalow Rd was taken after 9 p m last Monday and later found by Ray Carlson at 200 Pleasant St with the chain damaged.
