Suitcase killer: a year old retired miner dies boarding freight
A 1-year-old retired coal miner identified as Tony Serico died Tuesday near Joliet while attempting to board a westbound Rock Island freight train. Police say he threw his suitcase into a car, lost balance, and was struck by wheels between 1:10 and 1:15 p.m. The body was taken to Tezak Funeral Home in Joliet. Serico, born in Oklahoma, had worked as a coal miner in West Virginia and Kentucky. His brother, Joseph Serico, will handle funeral arrangements. The crew members were engineer Charles Renner, conductor H McClure, and brakemen Bill Stevens and Kenneth Goodfrey. The suitcase was found in the ninth car after the train stopped in Morris. Irregularities noted by investigators include a tattoo bearing his name on his left hand. Serico had recently moved from Springfield to Joliet.

Stott's Trial Delayed In Gruwidy County Case
