Controversy Over Giancana Case Heats Up in Chicago

Chicago reports claimed the Justice Department ordered immunity for witnesses before a federal grand jury probing organized crime. Atty. Edward Hanrahan denied any such directive. Three Youths Charged in Truck Theft Case

Two more youths were charged in the Jan. 12 theft of a truck owned by Chas. O'Brien and Son. James Bender 18 and Terry Frost 18, both of Wilmington, were nabbed Friday around 9 p.m. with John E. Hartley Jr. taken into custody Thursday. They face magistrate Chester P. Winsor for bond hearings and are held in the county jail.

Rev Paul Gilbert to Transfer from Morris Church

The Rev. Paul M. Gilbert will leave Morris First Methodist Church June 17 for Malta Ill. He served six years as associate pastor with roles in education Social Concerns and youth. Alvin P. Roberts of Zion will replace him as director of Christian education and minister of youth. Roberts holds degrees from the University of Michigan and has Navy service, and will move to Morris with his family.

Keeley Institute to Close in Dwight After 87 Years

The Keeley Institute for Alcoholism will shut its doors on Sunday ending a legacy begun in 1879. Administrator James H. Oughton Jr. cites staff shortages and competition from public facilities as reasons for the closure.

Oughton Ends Active Care For Alcoholics After 31 Years

After 31 years at the institute Oughton will discontinue direct treatment of alcoholics while remaining on two state advisory boards for alcoholism and narcotics. He will stay involved in politics as a state representative and the lodge remains open as a public dining and banquet facility. Other buildings have no immediate plans yet.
