Resentence Rap Brown for firearms case in New Orleans
H. Rap Brown was to be resentenced in federal court in New Orleans on a 1968 gun case after being moved from New York. The prior five year maximum and $2,000 fine were canceled by a federal appeals court because the sentence was pronounced while he was absent. Brown, once on the FBI’s most wanted list, was wounded and captured after an armed robbery in New York. Defense lawyer Kunstler unsuccessfully sought to delay the transfer and accused authorities of misleading conduct at Rikers Island.
