Train hits car at Grant St crossing in Morris
A 48 year old Morris man escaped injury when his 1971 Buick was demolished by a Rock Island train at the Grant Street crossing. Four others were slightly injured in two additional crashes. Jurko Kaszuba failed to see lights or hear the whistle before the impact. The train crew included engineer Hefferman and head brakeman Kueck. A Joliet man was treated for an ankle injury after his motorcycle struck a car at Division and McKinley. Delmar Peel cited for failure to yield turning left at McKinley and Armstrong. Three people were injured when a car struck a parked vehicle on Liberty Street. Debra Poole cited for reckless driving and will face court.

Fire damages parcel trailer at Romine's Standard Plaza
A Friday fire at Romine's Standard Plaza caused nearly total loss of contents in a Parcel delivery trailer. Man Killed Over Camp Site Sparks Murder Charge
In Poplar Grove Illinois Terry L Stiles 24 of Mount Morris was killed by a shotgun blast Sunday. Nelson W Boisvert 24 of Belvidere was charged with murder after a dispute at a camp site reportedly settled but Boisvert returned with a shotgun and fired.

Plan for Will County gas plant in Illinois
Peoples Gas Co plans to file with the Illinois Commerce Commission to build a 50 million dollar gas manufacturing plant in Will County. Construction would start in 1973 with completion expected for the 1974 75 heating season. The plant would produce 150 million cubic feet of gas daily, about 15 percent of current Chicago area volume, replacing losses from dwindling natural gas. Gas would be sourced from liquid hydrocarbons shipped by barge or pipeline to Will County.
