Storm rips Morris area with high winds and flooding
A severe storm swept Morris and surrounding towns at 7 43 p.m. with 2.70 inches of rain in an hour at Morris Airport. Winds of 30 to 40 mph caused downed trees and power lines, with widespread outages and emergency activity by civil defense, fire crews, and telephone utilities. No serious injuries reported though a youth was treated for shock, and damage stretched across Grundy LaSalle and Kendall counties with tornado and funnel cloud sightings and property losses.

The body of 8-year-old Rocky Estelle was recovered at 9 30 a m in the Des Plaines River near the I 55 overpass after search efforts by East Joliet Rockdale and Morris departments. Witnesses reported hearing the boy yelling from the water Sunday at 5 13 p m. The boy is the son of Mrs Bill Estelle of Rockdale and Bill Estelle of Litchfield.

Chicago Man Drowns at Palmer Dam Yorkville
A 20 year old Chicago man Angelo Pagan of 2947 N Schofield Ave drowned Monday afternoon at Palmer Dam in Yorkville. Yorkville Police responded with Kendall County deputies at 3 20 p m. The body was found at 3 55 p m and Deputy Coroner William Dunn certified the death at 4 10 p m. The body was moved to Larson Funeral Home for funeral arrangements.

Planners to Meet Friday in Grundy County
