Extension in Grundy County Faces Budget Shortfall
Farm Advisor Al Pilch announced at a media briefing that Grundy County Extension Service will operate on a deficit budget starting July 1. Reduced Farm Bureau funding leaves a gap of about 5 300 dollars of an 8 015 dollar budget. The service may seek county appropriations, fund raising, or a tax levy referendum. The extension supports 4 H, youth programs, and serves one third farm, one third towns, one third Morris, acting as a University of Illinois resource center.

A Commonwealth Edison spokesman said electrical service was interrupted today from 12 30 to 3 p m in Morris north and west sections to improve facilities and provide better service. Mechanical work occurred in five operations with each interruption under 30 minutes. The eighth annual Grundy County 4-H Show begins July 27 at the Mazon Fair Grounds with over 750 4-H members expected. Shirley Drechse and Dale Burkhart are named Miss and Mr Grundy County 4-H.
