President Johnson nominated Robert C. Weaver to head the new Department of Housing and Urban Development with MIT professor Robert Wood as undersecretary. Seoul fishing boat capsizes in Yellow Sea storm

Police reported 25 Koreans drowned when their fishing boat capsized off Sosan on the west coast about 50 miles southwest of Seoul during a Thursday storm in the Yellow Sea. Eleven persons were rescued.

Community Chest Drive Exceeds Goal in Grundy County

Sea Scouts Seek Navy Uniforms for New Crew

Sea Scout Ship 473 expands to three crews with five vacancies in the third crew under Rev. David Zimmerman. Two Injured In Morris And Grundy County Crashes

Two people remain under observation at Morris Hospital after separate Thursday night crashes in Morris and Grundy counties. Owen Carroll suffered head injuries from a windshield impact on Northern Ave Gould Park. Marlon Schwarz and driver George Babcock Jr. were treated for bruises and minor injuries after sliding on ice into a bridge. Robert Abernathy was also hospitalized for facial lacerations from a one car I-80 crash west of Illinois 47.

Gunmen Firestone Kidnap Plot Ends in Beverly Hills

In Beverly Hills two armed men crashed Firestone home on Alpine Drive aiming to abduct Leonard Firestone 58. Police killed both after a standoff, one thug Cal Bailey 40 died instantly and George Scalia 28 died later. Police say ransom may have been the plan. Firestone praised officers and left the city.
