In Cham paign Illinois a fire destroyed a synagogue and damaged a two story brick school adjacent. Rabbi Samuel Weingart said the blaze started in a basement gift shop and he saved one of three Torah scrolls while firemen and congregants recovered the other two. No damage estimate or cause yet.

Snowmobile Lost In Illinois River At Morris
The search continued for a snowmobile lost in the Illinois River near Stratton Park Morris. The machine belonged to Lloyd Bols and was being operated by Larry Barry who escaped injury but was treated at Morris Hospital.
