A major blaze in Johnston City destroyed two furniture stores a pool hall a jewelry shop and a laundromat along with several homes. Rolf, Edison project engineer, told the Illinois Commerce Commission that most of the 7,000 acres for a Brookfield Township nuclear plant may be returned to farming or natural use after completion. Minooka firemen traced the blaze to a wall furnace in the Otto Binkele residence at 107 E. Wabena St. They arrived about 1 15 p.m. and were on scene for 30 minutes. Fire Chief Robert Blair reported minor damage with no injuries.

The group will consider a letter to Illinois Division of Highways about U S 6 improvements. An earlier December note recalled owners of an 8 7 acre Ottawa Ave parcel near Shaky Bridge who were told to appear this month for an A Ill zoning extension with a one year start window.
