Henry Borens of the Morris Coin Shop at 404 N Liberty St reported a theft at 5 40 p m Saturday. Two small briefcases filled with silver and assorted coins were stolen. Borens described six to eight hippy type youths entering about 4 30 p m and milling around display cases.
A 38 year old Braceville resident Carl R Whitey Wilson was found dead in his car Sunday morning on County Line Road just south of Illinois 129. Police say the vehicle ran in a snow filled ditch and exhaust gases could not escape due to snow and a trunk floor hole. Wilson, born June 30 1935 in Olney Indiana, lived in Braceville 23 years. He was married to Janet Olroyd and survived by two daughters, his mother, father and sister. Burial is Braceville Gardner Cemetery after funeral at Patterson Funeral Home. Visitation scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday before services.
The district will host its annual meeting January 17 at the First United Methodist Church of Morris with Dr. Arlo Schilling, president of North Central College, as featured speaker. A 6 30 p.m. dinner precedes a brief business meeting and the election of three directors.
