Thomas S. Clayton 19 and Kathy Lynn Phillips 17 were listed in fair condition at Morris Hospital after a single vehicle crash in the 500 block of W Jefferson Street at 10 45 p m Thursday. Clayton lost control on slippery pavement and struck a utility pole. vehicle damaged was a 1968 Carmongia Volkswagen. Local police logged five additional accidents including a rear end collision at Main and Division and a failure to yield ticket in Utica.

Slim chance for white Christmas across the nation

Prospects of a white Christmas appeared slim outside western mountain regions and northern border states. Temperatures lingered in the 40s and 50s from the Rockies to the Appalachians as a Pacific storm off the coast brought winds and rain with heavy mountain snow in northern California and Oregon.
