Fred Brown of 9100 Douglas St after retirement took up whittling and carved a 442 inch violin from bird's eye maple, smaller than Ripley's 542 inch museum piece. He crafted other miniatures, including a banty chicken and over 100 tiny hammers, while recounting past labors and minor self injuries. He lives with wife Pearl, with son Harold nearby, and continues to whittle for happiness.
