Carolers revive an early Minooka Christmas tradition
In Minooka the 8th grade CCD class at St Marys will carol Friday evening as teacher Thomas Smith catalogs local history. He notes 1860s to 1890s caroling was popular during Christmas, with groups visiting homes or gathering for refreshments. An oyster supper by the Masons, once on the third floor of a hotel built in 1858 at Wabena and Wapella, lasted a century.
