Bank robbery attempt ends with arrest of Miles Tipsword Jr
Springfield detectives described Miles Tipsword Jr., a 46 year old Charleston man alleged to be an escaped mental patient, as he was seized in a tavern after following an officer from Springfield Marine Bank. He handed a note claiming he was armed and demanded money but fled empty handed after the alarm sounded. He had reportedly escaped from Jacksonville State Hospital and faced bank robbery charges.
