Petes Rose family details his Phillies move shock
Rose family reveals Pete Rose almost leaked the move twice while preparing to join the Philadelphia Phillies for a reported 3.2 million over four years. Petey, nine, tipped off a Cincinnati Police officer and later bet a radio DJ 3,000 that Rose would sign with Philadelphia. Karolyn Rose says pride and repeated slights by Reds management pushed him away.

New guidelines proposed for sex discrimination rules
The Carter administration proposes guidelines under Title IX to require proportional expenditures in college athletics, with exceptions for non discriminatory factors. Critics say special exceptions weaken the law while officials note football’s revenue and program size justify unique considerations. Immediate increases in women’s programs may be needed, including scholarships and coaching staff, per OCR director.
