Girl Struck and Killed on Tuma Road Near Yorkville
Cheri Lynn Fischer a 13 year old Yorkville resident died after being struck by a southbound car driven by Patrick Smith 23 of Oswego while walking on Tuma Road about 6 15 p m. The Kendall County sheriff reports the death and investigation ongoing. She was an eighth grade student at Circle Center School and her funeral is set for Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Yorkville.

Man arrested for Sears burglary in Joliet store
Rick Alan Gardner of Lockport was captured in the Sears and Roebuck store at 302 N. Chicago St. Joliet after a burglar alarm sounded at 7:26 p.m. He was found on a ledge on the first floor and charged with burglary and possession of a syringe. Police units surrounded the store and arrested him.

New York police charged the store manager after a Sunday opening allowed several thousand disabled persons to shop for the holidays. At 1 23 a m on Sunday on U S 6 near Illinois 47 by Bimnet Electrical Corp Joliet men Garnet J Eichelberger 23 suffered head lacerations and John Eichelberger minor cuts when the 1966 Chevy driven by Garnet Eichelberger left the road traveled 200 feet through a ditch and hit a Commonwealth Edison pole. Both were taken to Morris Hospital treated and released. Extensive front end damage was reported to the car.
