Grundy County Opens Two More Free Flu Shot Clinics
Grundy County Health Department administrator Mary Reed announced two additional flu vaccination clinics at 1340 Edwards St. The events run 8 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. on December 10 and 1 p.m. to 6 30 p.m. on December 13. Both bivalent and monovalent vaccines will be offered for eligible residents. The bivalent shot targets swine flu and A Victoria 75 for people over 60 or with chronic conditions, who should bring doctor notes. Those aged 18 to 24 who received the bivalent dose previously should return for a second dose.

Fire destroys semi cab near Seneca
A 1970 GMC semi tractor driven by Grover Lindsay Jr. of Philadelphia was destroyed by fire on the Seneca exit ramp of Interstate 80 at 2:42 am. The trailer with steel remained undamaged but was towed away. Lindsay was not injured.

Firefighters honor fallen Lockport volunteer Kinnard
Keith Kinnard an 18 year old Lockport volunteer fireman died while fighting a blaze that leveled the Strike-N Spare Bowling alley. More than 100 firefighters from 40 departments attended his funeral at St Joseph's Church in Lockport. The Will County 100 Club donated 1500 to his family. The fire caused about 1 million in damage, with cause still under investigation.

Firing squad members to be paid for Gilmore execution
