Aerial star Rietta Wallenda carries on family tightrope legacy
Rietta Wallenda, 17, dreams of the high wire as she tours with the Wallenda troupe. She balances on 50-foot ropes twice daily despite family tragedy after Karl Wallenda’s fatal fall in Puerto Rico last March. The Sarasota native, a 10th‑grade dropout, says she plans to continue the act with brother Mario while cousin Farrell Hettig slips on a rain slick rope and avoids a repeat disaster.
