Forecast calls for tonight’s showers and thunderstorms then cooler weather with lows 62 to 72. Saturday will be partly sunny with variable cloudiness and highs in the 80s. Morris reports yesterday high near 89 and low 66, barometer 29.90 and falling, wind peak 8 mph. Dresden Island Locks and Dam reached 88 for Thursday’s high and 59 for the low. Early morning temps were 66 in general and 84 in Morris by late morning.

County studies machine benefits for Grundy offices
Xerox representatives presented on a 9200 copying machine to Grundy County Boards committees. They cited annual rent of 22 500 versus current 915 rent plus paper costs for two older machines, and a purchase price of 105 000. The proposal aims to cut stationery costs and reduce labor, with about 90 percent of courthouse printing handled by the 9200. The plan goes to the county board on September 14. Pat Hays, wife of resigned Rep Wayne Hays, is expected to be released after minor surgery from Barnesville Hospital, condition satisfactory.

Edward Dugan Resigns From Minooka School Board
Minooka Grade School Board accepted the resignation of member Edward Dugan on Wednesday night. He plans to move to Milwaukee soon after being elected in April 1975. A vacancy appointment is expected at the September 8 meeting. The board also approved extracurricular stipends and various assignments for staff and coaches, plus policy and operational actions for the district.

Hold two youths for campus burglaries
Darrell Cohen 17 and Phillip Cohen 20 were held in custody after Grundy and Livingston detectives linked them to two burglaries in Campus last Monday. Darrell was arrested on Liberty Street by Grundy detectives and Phillip was arrested in Morris with two warrants. Bond for Phillip is set at 6000 dollars as he awaits transfer to Livingston County. Fire kills three children as man saves 30 in West Side blaze
In Chicago a seven unit fire, likely arson, claimed the lives of Andrew Moore Sr’s three children while he rescued 30 residents including his wife Vera Mae. A suspect, Fred Hodges Jr., 58, was arrested and charged with nine counts of murder and two counts of arson.
