Fire damages home in Braidwood at 2:20 am
Fire caused extensive damage to Miss Adelaide Barmann’s home on E Third St in Braidwood. The kitchen and roof were destroyed with most downstairs furnishings. Fire destroys Coal City police chief home on Church Street
Coal City police chief Gerald Bitner lost his nine room, two story residence at 165 Church St in a Saturday morning fire that started likely in an upstairs closet. 13 Year Old Drowns While Swimming at Gordon Bell Camp Area
A 13 year old Chicago girl, Joan Alice Jerrick, drowned Sunday while swimming with eight or nine youngsters at Gordon Bell camping area five miles west of the Illinois River. Coroner Clark Davis said she could not swim and was pronounced dead at the scene after her body was recovered by Morris Fire Department personnel.
