Grundy County Treasurer Betty Olson mailed 188 checks totaling 6 829 725 to all county taxing bodies including five districts townships corporations schools and sanitary districts. The first installment on real estate taxes is due August 16 with the second due September 1 and a 1 percent monthly penalty for late payment.

Remains Critical After Kendall County Crash
Steven Yingling 23 of Sandwich remained in very critical condition at Loyola Medical Center Chicago. He was injured Tuesday at 7 30 am in an accident at Rogers and County Line Roads Kendall County. Yingling allegedly failed to yield at the intersection and struck a westbound van on Rogers Road.

Walker signs inheritance relief bill in Illinois

A 21-year-old Lincoln man is held on suspicion after an intruder killed hog farmer Lloyd Schneider 44 his wife Phyllis 45 and daughter Terri 17 at their ranch style home four miles west of Lincoln. Terri was a Lincoln High School senior and cheerleader. Police reported multiple stab wounds and an autopsy ordered. Sheryl 16 and Jeffrey Richardson escaped to seek help.
