Superintendent's family bus withdrawal ends Checker Cab bid
Morris Grade School Superintendent H Dale Barr announced at a special meeting that Metropolitan Checker Cab, his family operation in Joliet, withdraws its offer to transport four district special education students. The board approved bidding for a new bus and a driver salary under $8,000, while Barr notes the conflict of interest claim and cites potential savings of over $40,000 annually. Barr says a leased used bus could begin by the start of school, with delivery of a new bus in three to nine months, and outlines costs and savings versus current Warland Bus Service charges.
